Rich Blumenthal

Richard Blumenthal, who grew up in Portland is a retired business owner who has been a member of the IHP Board since January 2021.  After graduating from Colgate University, he was a special education teacher in New Jersey and went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Special Education at Kean University and then post-graduate work at Montclair State College. This experience led to a 30-year career in educational publishing which included senior management positions in sales, marketing, and product development.  He then became President of Capstone Press in Minneapolis and CEO of Chelsea House Publishers in Philadelphia. In 2006 Rich moved to Boston to become Senior Vice President of the National Center for Technology Education at the Museum of Science.  In 2008 Rich returned to Portland and started a new business, Advantage Home Care, a company dedicated to delivering in-home care services to aging adults. After building the company into a leading provider of quality senior care Rich sold the business and retired in 2021.

As a board member, he has been active as a member of the Fundraising Committee and has recently joined the Governance Committee with his appointment as Board Treasurer.
